How a moment is scored
Every verdict in Vyoma is a sum you can audit. Each rule contributes signed points, the ledger shows all of them with a running total, and the one-word band at the top is only a label for that total. Nothing is hidden and nothing is averaged away.
The ledger is the answer
A muhurta app that says only "good" or "bad" is asking to be trusted. Vyoma shows the arithmetic instead: every rule that was checked, what it found, how many points it added or subtracted, and the total after each step. If you disagree with a rule, you can see exactly how much it moved the answer.
Rules that could not be evaluated say so rather than passing silently. If a table has not been cross-checked against a printed source for your Moon sign, the row reports that it is unavailable and scores nothing. A missing check never looks like a passed one.
Bands are labels, not verdicts
Excellent, Good, Mixed and Avoid are thresholds on the total. They exist so a list of times can be skimmed, not so the total can be ignored — two moments in the same band can be several points apart.
One exception cuts the other way. A severe blemish — a live Vishti (Bhadra) karana, or the Vyatipata or Vaidhriti yoga — caps the band no matter how high the total climbs. Classically these veto auspicious work rather than acting as a penalty to be outweighed, so the headline is held down even when the arithmetic is positive. The full total stays visible in the ledger.
Windows, not instants
When you search for a time, each candidate window is checked at both ends, and the worse end governs. A window that begins under a favourable tithi but ends after it has changed is scored on what it becomes, not on how it starts.
The finder shows two things for each clean stretch: the peak — the sub-window that actually reaches the best score — and the wider stretch in which nothing is actively wrong. They answer different questions, so they are shown separately.
What the marker means
A rule marked with a small circle is applied and scored, but its underlying table has not yet been matched line by line against a printed classical source. It is a statement about the engine's confidence in its own transcription, not about your chart.
Where a table has been checked against a book, this reference names the book, the chapter or verse, and the edition. Where it has not, it says so plainly.
